Cobie Smulders booking
Nabbing the first starring role she auditioned for, Cobie Smulders burst onto Hollywood’s radar and emerged as one of Hollywood’s most comedic actresses.
In 2012, Cobie starred in the Disney/Marvel film “The Avengers” opposite Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson. She portrays S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill, the second-in-command operative, alongside Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), whose popularity exploded following her comic debut in 2005. She was also starred in the feature comedy “Grassroots” alongside Jason Biggs and Christopher McDonald. The film is about a journalist who loses his job and helps his oddball friend earn a seat on the Seattle City council. Additionally in 2012, she appeared as Jo in “Safe Haven” with Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.
Segueing effortlessly between the big and small screen, Cobie has won over audiences as “How I Met Your Mother’s” Robin Sherbatsky — a guy’s girl, a former Canadian teen pop sensation (Robin Sparkles) and the only one to ever steal womanizer Barney’s heart. Now in its eighth season, “How I Met Your Mother” revolves around Ted (Josh Radnor), a twenty something single man in New York City, and his quest for true love. When Ted meets Robin (Cobie), he is sure it’s love at first sight. The show has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and a Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Show: Comedy. The show won the People’s Choice Award in 2012 for Favorite TV Comedy. Additionally, Cobie has also starred in the ABC drama “Veritas,” a thriller/adventure with an Indiana Jones type setting and the intrigue of an unsolved mystery. She also recurred as artist Leigh Ostin on the critcially acclaimed showtimes series “The L Word,” a dramatic story of a close-knit group of lesbian friends living in Los Angeles.
Cobie spent a summer performing in Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s Off-Broadway hit, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” at the Westside Theatre. Based on Ilene Beckerman’s 1995 book about clothes and the memories they trigger, the production is directed by Karen Carpenter, and features a series of five-person casts that will play in four-week cycles. She stars in the production alongside Penny Fuller, Sherri Shepherd and Diane Neal. A portion of the production’s proceeds benefit Dress for Success, a charity that provides work clothing and job support for low-income women. Her other theatre credits include “Singing in the Rain,” “Grease,” and “Women and Wallace.”
During high school Cobie’s grace and beauty caught the eye of a modeling agency, which led to five years of world travel. Despite her hectic work schedule, she graduated from high school with honors and was voted “Most Respected” by her peers.
